My Time on Country with Miriam Rose & Dadirri
A life-changing trip sitting on Country with Miriam Rose Ungunmerr Baumann in 2019 continues to deeply inform my work, and with permission, I share my experiences of the word, concept and spiritual practice of Dadirri (da-did-ee) that is always alive in me. Miriam Rose Ungunmerr Baumann AM, is an Aboriginal elder from Nauiyu and a renowned artist, activist, writer, public speaker, and Senior Australian of the Year (2021). Miriam Rose’s teachings on Dadirri have profoundly shaped my experience of BEing in the world, and I’m so deeply grateful for the opportunity I had to be in her presence and receive these ancient wisdom teachings. Dadirri is from the Ngan’gikurunggurr and Ngen’giwumirri languages of the Aboriginal peoples of the Daly River region (Northern Territory, Australia). If you’re interested to learn more about my time on Country and the impact of these teachings, an online Nature Reconnection session is a great place to start. I make an annual donation to the Miriam Rose Foundation to honour these teachings.
